The biggest project you’ll
ever work on is you.

The business and the person are the same project.

Eleven years running a restaurant taught me one thing the hard way. You cannot fix the business while the operator is falling apart, and you cannot fix the operator while the business runs them into the ground. So I built two simple tools to keep both standing: a daily practice, and a set of laws I learned by breaking them.

The MILE Method 8S · By Michael Le

Eight pillars.
One daily practice.
Built for the operator returning to himself.

Most operators have eight things falling apart at once. Health, focus, environment, identity. The MILE Method 8S is the daily operating system I built to keep all eight running. Five minutes a day. Free to use. Documented in public.

  1. 01Self-AwarenessKnow yourself to grow yourself.
  2. 02Sense of PurposeSet your True North.
  3. 03SurroundingsYour environment is running you.
  4. 04StrengthHow you treat your body is how you treat your life.
  5. 05Self-RegulationRespond. Don't react.
  6. 06Single-TaskingWhere your attention goes, your life goes.
  7. 07Self-DisciplineMotivation fades. Discipline stays.
  8. 08SustainabilityA marathon, not a sprint.

Walk through all eight pillars on the dedicated 8S page.

The 10 Laws of Alignment · By Michael Le

Ten laws.
Each one learned by breaking it.

The companion to the daily practice, drawn from Chapter 8 of No Plan B. Ten patterns I violated for years, each one written in what it cost me.

  1. 01Life always pushes you back to truth.
  2. 02What you avoid becomes heavier.
  3. 03Familiar is not the same as safe.
  4. 04Your body knows before your mind admits it.
  5. 05Pressure reveals foundations.
  6. 06Integrity costs first, pays later.
  7. 07You become what you tolerate.
  8. 08Discipline creates distance from destruction.
  9. 09Peace is a decision, not a mood.
  10. 10Alignment is only visible in reverse.

Read the full essay on each law. The companion piece from No Plan B, Chapter 8.

Where this leads

This is how I think.
Here is what I build.

If the way I operate sounds like your kind of operator, start with The Note. The same thinking powers Forkcast, my marketing studio for Sydney restaurants and cafes.
